MultiVersus Closed Beta Signs Up More Players On Steam Than Any Other Fighting Game

MultiVersus, a fighting game that brings together characters from the different Warner Bros. universes, has managed to register 62,433 concurrent players on Steam, a figure that has never been reached before by a title of this genre. It is true that we are facing a free-to-play bet, but we must also take into account that until July 26 to access MultiVersus you have to pay for one of the Founder’s Pack or be attentive to Twitch drops. The title also has a version for PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series.

VideoGamesChronicle has been looking at the record for concurrent players on Steam for the latest fighting games, and none of them came even close to beating MultiVersus. In addition, the Warner Bros. Games title has managed to garner good reviews and right now on Steam 93% of the more than 800 registered reviews are “very positive”. Returning to the concurrent players, the list of those who came closest to the figure achieved by MultiVersus are:

Dragon Ball FighterZ – 44,303 Mortal Kombat 11 – 35,147 Brawlhalla – 34,816 Guilty Gear Strive – 31,156 Dragon Ball Xenoverse – 22,850 Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 – 19,416 Tekken 7 – 18,966

LeBron James will join MultiVersus
The MultiVersus Open Beta will open tomorrow, July 26, at 18:00 Spanish Peninsula Time. Until then, those interested in playing the fighting title have two options: watch a Twitch streamer play MultiVersus with Twitch Drops activated for 60 minutes, or buy one of the Founder’s Pack for a price ranging from 39.99 euros to the 99.99 euros. All progress made and characters unlocked during the Open and Closed Betas will carry over after the game is out of testing.

In the future, MultiVersus will add content, including characters and settings, with seasons. At the moment we know that in the first they will join the cast of fighters LeBron James, who can participate in the title thanks to his presence in the movie Space Jam: A New Legacy, and Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith, the protagonists of the series Rick & Morty that can be seen on Adult Swim, a channel owned by Warner Bros. We will see if MultiVersus is able to stand the test of time or falls into oblivion like so many others.
